The safety and stability concerns of liquid electrolytes in conventional lithium-ion batteries have accelerated the development of solid-state alternatives. NASICON type ceramics Li1.5Al0.5Ti1.5(PO4)3 (LATP) offer promising properties, including high bulk ionic conductivity and good compatibility with lithium anodes. However, their practical application is hindered by grain boundary resistance and relatively low total ionic conductivity. This study investigates the effect of Ta2O5 doping on LATP to overcome these limitations. Doping with 5 wt% Ta2O5 improved the ionic conductivity to 2.95 × 10-4 S/cm by enhancing lattice structure, reducing grain boundary resistance, and suppressing the formation of secondary phase. Additionally, Ta2O5 positively influenced the sintering behavior, resulting in a denser, and more uniform microstructure. These enhancements suggest that Ta2O5-doped LATP is a strong candidate for next-generation all-solid-state lithium-ion batteries.
For the purpose of treating health checkups and recovery of patients in a super-aged society, hospitals use devices designed with a reduction circuit of electromagnetic waves associated with the specific absorption rate of electromagnetic waves absorbed by the human body. In this paper, we proposed a filter improvement design method capable of reducing electromagnetic waves. As a result of confirming the validity of the proposed technique through simulation and experimental results, the following result values were obtained. Applying the common-mode (CM) inductor 4 mH to a calibration circuit, noise decreased in a multiband spectrum. Using the differential mode(DM) inductor 40 μH element in the primary calibration circuit, the noise decreased by 15 dB or more in the 3 MHz band spectrum. Also, applying the Admittance Capacitance (Y-Cap) 10 nF element in the secondary calibration circuit resulted in the decrease by more than 30 dB in the band spectrum before 2 MHz. After using a common-mode inductor 4 mH element in the tertiary calibration circuit, it decreased by more than 15 dB in the band spectrum after 2 MHz.
Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) have become a main energy storage device in various applications, such as portable appliances, renewable energy facilities, and electric vehicles. However, the poor thermal stability of LIBs may cause explosion or fire. The thermal runaway is the result of a failure of the separator inside LIB. Damages like tearing, piercing, and collapsing of the separator were simulated in a mechanical, an electrical, and a thermal way, and small discharge pulses of a few mV were detected at the time of separator damages. From the experimental results, this paper provided a method that can identify the separator failure before thermal runaway in the aspect of a potential explosion and fire prevention measures.
A machine vision inspection system consists of a camera, optics, illumination, and image acquisition system. Especially a scanning system has to be made to measure a large inspection area. Therefore, a machine vision line scan camera needs a line scan light source. A line scan light source should have a high light intensity and a uniform intensity distribution. In this paper, an offset calibration and slope calibration methods are introduced to obtain a uniform light intensity profile. Offset calibration method is to remove the deviation of light intensity among channels through adding intensity difference. Slope calibration is to remove variation of light intensity slope according to the control step among channels through multiplying slope difference. We can obtain an improved light intensity profile through applying offset and slope calibration simultaneously. The proposed method can help to obtain clearer image with a high precision in a machine vision inspection system.
Lamination is used extensively in various industries. The type of lamination applied to the material depends on the precision level required, which varies for materials needed for everyday use, materials used in high-tech industries, and processes employed to fabricate finished products. Especially in hot lamination, the distribution of the surface temperature of the heating roller is very important to avoid the generation of internal bubbles and ensure flatness of the attached materials, and thus maintain a good standard of quality and productivity. In this study, we have developed a system to monitor the surface temperature of the heating rollerby applying a heterogeneous controller and a non - contact temperature sensor. This monitoring system accurately measures the surface temperature of the heating roller and applies the RS485 MODBUS communication method for easy expansion. Using this system, a laminated prototype was fabricated, and its efficacy for non-contact temperature sensor calibration, Ethernet IP communication, stoppage of the heating roller, and determination of temperature distribution with rotation was examined for its potential usage in industries.
Compared to conventional pure-tone audiometer (PTA), the computerized one has several advantages such as relatively lower price, better flexibility, and easy operation. In addition, the computerized PTA can be easily extended to support automatic calibration. In this study, the support of automatic calibration in the computerized PTA has been addressed using the Linux realtime spectrum analyzer and network. In terms of accuracy, the new automatic calibration machine was compared to the existing manually operated one. According to the comparison, normal operation and high accuracy were observed within the scope of the international standard.
